Rage Against the Machine was an American rock band formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, California. The band consisted of Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass), Brad Wilk (drums), and Zack de la Rocha (vocals). Known for their fusion of alternative metal, rapcore, and punk, the band's music addressed various social and political issues, such as racism, capitalism, and government control.
Throughout their career, Rage Against the Machine released four studio albums: "Rage Against the Machine" (1992), "Evil Empire" (1996), "The Battle of Los Angeles" (1999), and "Renegades" (2000). Their debut album was a critical and commercial success, featuring hits like "Killing in the Name" and "Bullet in the Head." The band's music often incorporated complex time signatures, polyrhythms, and socially conscious lyrics.
Rage Against the Machine has been praised for their energetic live performances and activism. They have performed at numerous benefit concerts, including the Tibetan Freedom Concert series and the Rock for the Republic tour. In 2019, the band announced a reunion with all original members, followed by a world tour. Despite disbanding in 2001, Rage Against the Machine's music and message continue to inspire and influence fans worldwide.
