Boney M Vinyl Records
Boney M was a pop music group created by German producer Frank Farian in 1975. The group's name comes from the phrase "Boney Maroney," which was reportedly inspired by a blacksmith who worked on the streets of Paris. Boney M's music was a fusion of pop, rock, and disco styles, and they achieved significant commercial success during the late 1970s.
The group's most famous lineup consisted of Liz Mitchell (lead vocals), Maizie Williams, Elaine Kelly, and Marianne Rosenberg. They released several hit singles, including "Daddy Cool," "Ma Baker," and "Rivers of Babylon." These songs were often reworked versions of earlier hits by various artists, but Boney M's distinctive blend of harmonies and rhythms helped to make them their own.
Despite their commercial success, Boney M's music has been criticized for being overly reliant on Farian's production techniques and the group's lack of creative input.
