As a singer-songwriter, Davis was best known for his hit song "Hurt Her Not," which reached number one on the Billboard charts in 1942. In addition to his music career, Davis also served as a state senator from 1935 to 1940, further solidifying his reputation as a respected figure in Louisiana politics.
